The County of Perth and the Township of Perth East have initiated amendments to the County Official Plan and the Township of Perth East Zoning By-law for the Shakespeare Settlement area.
In general the proposed amendments will not impact the current uses on the majority of the properties in Shakespeare. For example, if the lands are currently zoned residential, they will continue to be zoned residential in the proposed amendment. The properties will be subject to new regulations for minimum lot areas, lot frontages, side yard setbacks, etc.
The County and the Township anticipate that these amendments will be approved in July/August 2010. If a land owner is thinking about making changes to their property there will be no fee at this time to request an amendment to the Official Plan or the zoning on their lands. If a change is requested following adoption of these amendments there is a fee of $1000.00 for an amendment to the zoning by-law.

If a land owner wants to request a change to the Official Plan or Zoning for their property the Township requests that they complete the attached Request Form (Click to download as: Word .doc or PDF) and return it to the Township office as soon as possible.
